Everton have announced the signing of Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic from Glasgow Rangers, who moves to Merseyside for a fee of £6 million.

The Croatia international has impressed since moving to Ibrox from Rapid Vienna back in the summer of 2010, and netted 36 times in 55 appearances for Ally McCoist's men.

Jelavic sees the move to the Premier League as a big step in his career and he is confident he can score goals at this level:

"It is a big thing for me and it is a new step in my career, a step forward. I am very pleased and very excited, it is a new challenge for me.

"The Scottish Premier League is not as high a level as here in England but I think it will help a lot as it is not so much a big difference.

"I think I can bring some good football and to score many goals and to try to win some trophies." (Sky Sports)

Jelavic has signed a four-and-a-half year contract with The Toffees and will look to make his debut for his new club against Wigan on Saturday.
