Everton are said to be in the market for a new striker this summer and The Daily Mirror has reported that man is Wigan’s Colombian International, Hugo Rodallega.
With the main focal point in Everton’s frontline being the injury stricken Louis Saha, David Moyes will view a new forward as a must, and Rodallega fits the bill. The former Necaxa striker has bagged himself eight Premier League goals so far this season, which is a half decent return when considering the Latics current plight.
With Wigan’s Premier League status in the balance, David Moyes will fancy reducing the £10 million valuation Wigan chairman Dave Whelan is rumoured to have slapped on the player.
Regardless of which league Wigan find themselves in next season, Rodallega is likely to be heading for the exit door in the summer. With one year left on his current deal at the DW Stadium Wigan may have to cut their losses and cash in on the Colombian.
However, Roberto Martinez will do all he can to convince Rodallega to resist the advances of Everton. Rodallega’s goal in Wigan’s 3-1 victory over Blackpool at the weekend has made him Wigan’s leading Premier League goal scorer of all time with twenty one goals.
