Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder David Ginola has claimed that the club cannot afford to lose star striker Harry Kane.

According to the Sunday Mirror, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wants his club to go all out to sign the England international.

It is likely that only a world-record bid in excess of £100m would cause Tottenham to consider selling, but expectedly they will try to keep hold of their prized asset.

Kane has become a formidable force at the North London club over the last few seasons.

Despite having a spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury, the 23-year-old still managed to end last season with the Golden Boot after scoring 29 Premier League goals.

It was the second year in a row that Kane scooped the award, and he bettered his tally from the 2015-16 campaign's 25-goal haul.

While the reports regarding United's interest in the striker are just speculation at this stage, Ginola believes that if the England international finds himself in a position where his head could get turned, he should try to stay focused on Tottenham.

Ginola told talkSPORT:

“Harry Kane should stay at Spurs. Spurs need Harry Kane to stay if they are to win the Premier League next season. That’s very important. Tottenham had a great season and finished runners-up last year.

“They need to keep their best assets if they want to win anything in the next few years, and Harry Kane, along with the likes of Dele Alli, is one of their best assets.”
