Manchester United have received a blow in their chase for Borussia Dortmund ace Mats Hummels, with his father insisting the defender will not be moving this January, Daily Mail reports.
Hummels has been heavily linked with a move to Man United recently, with reports suggesting that the Red Devils have already made a £35million offer for the highly-rated centre-back.
However Mats’ father and agent, Herman Hummels, has revealed that the Germany international will not be leaving the Westfalenstadion this month.
“There is nothing to it,” he said in regards to a January move.
United manager Louis van Gaal is extremely keen on signing world class players to aid his push for Champions League football next season, and has Hummels near the top of his wishlist.
But the World Cup winner has had a terrible season, with Dortmund struggling near the bottom of the Bundesliga.
Hummels’ frustration with the club’s performance could open the door for Man United, who aren’t afraid to splash the cash after spending over £150million last summer.
