Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has revealed that he is looking forward to going head-to-head with a number of "big clubs" during pre-season.

Man United will head off on their pre-season tour of the United States this weekend, with the Red Devils taking in five matches before they return to Europe.

LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake will provide the MLS opposition for Man United, before facing Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona in the International Champions Cup later in the month.

Fellaini has claimed that pre-season is always important for the players, but the Belgian international has admitted that the club's diary makes this summer's preparations more special.

Fellaini told Man United's official website:

"Of course, when you have big clubs playing each other it is always electric in the game and the players are motivated to show their best and the crowd will be there to cheer us on.

"When you play against big teams you are motivated and already in pre-season you give everything because you want to be fit and you want to win, and that can only help with preparations."

After returning from the United States, Man United will take on Valerenga and Sampdoria in their final two pre-season matches, before facing Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup on August 8.

Jose Mourinho's side will then look to get their 2017-18 Premier League campaign off to a winning start when they host West Ham United on the opening weekend.
