Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho, according to The Daily Mail.
Having already secured the signings of Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell this summer, the acquisition of £25 million rated Moutinho is hoped to be enough to close the gap on rivals Manchester City next season.
The deal could be expected to take some time however, as the Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson stated; “When you don’t get deals done immediately and you’re negotiating with a club over a long period, then you can’t expect to just snap your fingers and get it done.”
However, the 25 year old, who impressed for Portugal at Euro 2012 this summer, has also been a target of new Spurs boss Andre Villas Boas, who made Moutinho one of his first signings when taking over as Porto manager in 2010.
Porto may be looking to play hardball regarding any move for Moutinho though, as they also face the possibility of losing centre forward Hulk to Chelsea in an attempt by Roberto Di Matteo to replace Didier Drogba.
Should an agreement be reached however, Moutinho will have a tough decision to make as he contemplates a move to the Premier League.
