Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes the title race is not yet over after he watched his side grind out a narrow 1-0 win at Sunderland.

Nani's cool finish in the first half was enough to land the crucial points after leaders Chelsea had cruised to a 2-0 success at Liverpool earlier in the day.

The Londoners lead the Red Devils by one point and, with one game of the season to go, Ferguson is hopeful that Wigan Athletic, who take on the Pensioners at Stamford Bridge next Sunday, can do them a massive favour.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Ferguson said:"All we can do is win our game next week. Obviously I wouldn't say it's a sealed result against Wigan by any shadow of a doubt.

"They're a good team, they'll have a go and you just never know. It's a crazy game.

"Maybe we are clutching at straws a little bit. It is important for us to win in front of our home fans (against Stoke City) and play the right way.

"It would be a incredible achievement for us. At the least we have stretched it (the title race) and kept the nerves going."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
