Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has dismissed renewed speculation linking central defender Nemanja Vidic with a move away from Old Trafford at the end of the current campaign.
The 28-year-old Serbia international is a reported target for the likes of AC Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid, but Ferguson is not about to let Vidic move on.
He told reporters:“Of course we want him to stay. He is a great player, one of the best centre-backs in the world.
“Our players are the subject of speculation from time to time. You just have to deal with it.”
Ferguson’s stance was backed up by Vidic’s agent, Silvano Martina, who also denied that his client was going anywhere, with Vidic’s current contract running until the summer of 2012.
Martina told Calciomercato.it:“There is nothing true, both myself and Vidic are tired of commenting on these rumours that come out.
“He still has two years on his deal at Manchester United and he will not be sold.”
