According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United and Manchester City are preparing to go head to head, as they both look to sign 16-year-old Derby midfielder Will Hughes.
Hughes was the stand out player for England in a recent under 17 tournament, which sparked interest in him from the Premier League’s top two.
England emerged triumphant from a difficult group with included France, Holland and host nation Portugal, with Hughes, in his first age group competition for England, the star player.
Both Manchester clubs are keen to add to their ranks and look to obtain the country’s best young talent and Will Hughes looks to have a big future having already made inroads into the first team squad at Pride Park.
The Manchester teams are expected to offer Derby lucrative deals in order to tempt them into selling Hughes who started the current season on a scholarship deal. The talented youngster has only made one first team appearance, as a second half substitute in a defeat against Peterborough.
