Sir Alex Ferguson claims a focused Manchester United are fired up and ready for Wednesday's Carling Cup semi-final second leg showdown with Manchester City.

The Red Devils are looking to overturn a 2-1 first-leg deficit following last week's opening encounter at Eastlands.

Ferguson has reported no fresh injury problems following Saturday's 4-0 Premier League win over Hull City.

Wayne Rooney scored all four goals against the Tigers, while defender Rio Ferdinand made his first appearance for three months after finally overcoming a back problem.

"There are no new injuries," reported Ferguson."Everyone came through from Saturday. I have a big, strong squad.

"It's going to be a fantastic game, I know that. Maybe even better than last week's. We're ready for it and we hope that our experience helps."

Meanwhile, United are reported to have agreed a fee for Fulham's highly-rated 20-year-old defender Chris Smalling.

Arsenal and Chelsea have also recently been linked with moves for the England Under-21 international.Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
