Five fixtures that could define Everton’s season

The 2015/16 Premier League fixtures are out and we’ve been treated to some absolute belters.

We’ll be doing a full series on the top games to look out for each Premier League team and this one’s for you Everton fans.

As Bobby Martinez enters his third season in the Goodison Park hotseat, first up he’ll welcome newly-promoted Watford. Obviously any team that’s made the grade in the Championship provides a tricky banana skin for top tier opposition but even more so with the Hornets, who were knocking it around very nicely at the latter stages of last year.

Of course, there are two games Toffees fans will be looking out for – that goes without saying. They welcome Liverpool early October and make the return trip across the city late February.

October looks a particularly tricky month for the club, as they face Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal back-to-back. Sunderland represents light at the end of the tunnel and the first in a series of very winnable matches for the club (West Ham, Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Norwich, Leicester, Newcastle, Stoke) as they look to build some momentum going into a congested Christmas fixture list.

Championship clubs provide the bookmarks for Everton’s season, with Alex Neil’s Norwich side travelling to Goodison for the season curtain closer, with Martinez realistically looking to seal a top seven finish for the club.
