Fonseca confirms Arsenal’s interest amid £23m rumour

Porto striker Hulk could be in line for a move to Arsenal after the Porto strikers agent revealed the Gunners had been in contact with the Portuguese club over the striker talkSPORT understands.

It’s being reported that Arsene Wenger is lining up a £23 million bid for the powerful Brazilian in January with his agent Teodoro Fonseca admitting the Emirates club had been in contact over a move.

He has however dismissed claims that Porto would be willing to let the 25-year-old leave for such a low sum with any interested clubs having to match £87 million release clause in his contract.

“Every year there are more clubs interest in Hulk and I am also aware that there are clubs from outside the Premier clubs interested.” He said.

“This Arsenal rumour is news to me but it is true that there has been contact before but nothing happened.

Fonseca added: “But I speak often with Porto and the figures have not changed. He will only be sold if someone pays the £100m so this figure of £23m that has appeared would not be considered.”

Wenger is still desperate to strengthen his squad after losing a host of big names in the summer and with Robin Van Persie stalling over a new contract it’s no surprise to see him linked with Hulk having been credited with an interest in the past.
