Daniel Sturridge missed the decisive penalty in the shootout that saw Team GB crash out of the Olympics against South Korea. It could have been oh so different for Stuart Pearce’s men had Aaron Ramsey not missed his spot-kick in normal time, but the South Korean’s were able to keep Team GB at arm’s length and were extremely clinical in the shootout. Pearce felt that fatigue played a massive part and that South Korea probably deserved to go through, “I'm very proud of my players because I think what we've achieved in four weeks, from base fitness, has been outstanding. It's been a great experience but congratulations to South Korea, they deserve to go through.”

Elsewhere in the news Manchester United are lining up a double move for Moura and Van Persie; Alan Pardew is relaxed over Newcastle’s transfer activity, while Carlo Ancelotti cools links with PSG moving for Ashley Cole.
