Former AC Milan goalkeeper Marco Amelia is set to have his medical ahead of a proposed move to Chelsea, according to reports from the Metro.
Amelia was released by Perugia during the summer and is currently a free agent, but after a long-term injury to Blues number-one shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois, Amelia was given a trial by the Premier League champions to back-up Asmir Begovic.
And it looks like Chelsea are satisfied with his ability, with respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio revealing that the ex-Italy international will undergo his medical on Friday.
The 33-year-old spent four years at Milan from 2010-2014, but struggled to break into the first-team with Christian Abbiati ahead of him in the pecking order.
Amelia was part of the Italy squad that won the 2006 World Cup as their third-choice goalkeeper, but his career stalled ever since he left Livorno in 2008.
Last season with Perugia he didn’t manage to make a single appearance.
