Chelsea overcame Arsenal in a heated 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge thanks to an Eden Hazard penalty and a Diego Costa strike, which was set-up by former Gunner Cesc Fabregas.
Fabregas, speaking after the game – in which he was awarded Man of the Match – against his former club, was asked about whether a hostile reception made the victory even sweeter for him, the Spanish international replied:
“No. Not at all.
“I have huge respect for Arsenal, they gave me everything when I was little, without them I wouldn’t be here I wouldn’t have won what I won.
“The fans I take it in a positive way; I know they love me so it’s all because we were together one day but due to circumstances these things can happen but I’ve always said it, I’m not scared, they will always be in my heart forever but now this is football.”
Victory sees Chelsea open up a nine-point gap between them and the Gunners.
