Napoli have been monitoring the situation of frustrated Liverpool defender Daniel Agger, with the Serie A side putting him on top of their transfer shopping list, TalkSPORT reports.
Fomer Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez, who is now in charge at the Italian club, could be reunited with Agger who recently admitted to being unhappy at his continued exclusion from the first team.
Brendan Rodgers has been bringing in many defensive signings since last season as he now targets yet another defender in Cardiff City’s Steven Caulker, a move which could cause even more conflict with the Danish star.
With this news, Napoli could be interested in bringing the player to Italy, but could now face competition from Barcelona, who were also rumoured to be wanting him at the beginning of last season.
Benitez is also keeping a close eye on Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen, who like Agger, has lost his first team place to the the defensive partnership of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny.
