Former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Lassana Diarra is close to completing a move to West Ham United after training with the club since December, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
Sam Allardyce invited the 29-year-old to train with his squad following his exit from Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow after becoming a free agent.
Both Queens Park Rangers and Inter Milan were keen on acquiring his services ahead of the January window, but with those potential transfers falling through, he is now looking for a deal at Upton Park.
The French midfielder is now out of contract and Allardyce hopes he can add him to his ranks in order to reinforce his side with some extra experience, even tipping him to become a regular player for his rejuvenated Hammers.
“He is training with us,” he said.
“I’m not so sure whether we have finalised a deal yet but he is doing a little bit of training with us. The deal is very close to being finalised and on the basis of where we are with our squad and the injuries, once we have him fit he will be a very good addition based on his previous record as a footballer.”
Apart from playing for the Blues and the Gunners, he has also enjoyed successful spells with Portsmouth as well as with Spanish giants Real Madrid.
