Former Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele has emerged as a shock new coach to be brought in alongside Carlo Ancelotti if Jose Mourinho is sacked, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
Mourinho is having a disastrous campaign with the Blues so far, with the club dangling near the relegation zone at 15th on the Premier League table.
And to compound his misery, the Portuguese has been given a one match suspension for his confrontation with referee Jon Moss during their 2-1 loss to West Ham United last month, which will see him miss their clash against Stoke City this weekend.
The situation has caused his position as the Chelsea manager to come under question in recent weeks, and now reports suggest that the club hierarchy are considering bringing in ex-boss Ancelotti and club legend Makelele as a dream team replacement.
Ancelotti and Makelele have worked together before when the Italian was in charge at Paris Saint-Germain, in which they helped PSG to their first Ligue-1 title in 19 years before their recent dominance.
But despite constantly being linked with the Chelsea job, Ancelotti reiterated that he is not yet ready to return to managing, stating: “I am sure that I won’t miss the dugout until June. From July, I will be ready to go.”
During his time at Stamford Bridge, Ancelotti led the club to a domestic Premier League and FA Cup double in his first season.
