Former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson has come out to reveal that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich shouldn’t sack manager Jose Mourinho, Mirror reports.
The Blues have started the current campaign a completely different squad given that they only lifted the Premier League trophy earlier this year.
There have been speculations that a number of managers including Bayern Munich’s Pep Guardiola and Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone are already being lined up.
However, Eriksson admitted that Abramovich must stand firm on his decision to continue to back Mourinho despite his poor form in recent months.
“Jose Mourinho’s situation is a surprise, because they won with style the Premier League last season,” he said.
“Mourinho can turn it round — the season is long.
“The club must stick together and I say stick together for not only the players. It is the players, yes, but the staff, the club itself, the owner, must all be together.”
The current English champions have already lost seven league games so far this season as they find themselves sitting in 16th place, three points away from the relegation zone.
Their latest defeat came at the weekend as they were unable to overcome Stoke City at the Britannia, eventually losing the game 1-0.
Chelsea will host Norwich City when the next round of fixtures resume following the international break as they look to improve on their recent performances.
