Former England boss Glenn Hoddle believes Hull City midfielder Tom Huddlestone should be a part of Roy Hodgson’s squad, reports ITV Sport.
England face Estonia tomorrow for their third European Championship qualifier, and former Tottenham boss Hoddle thinks Huddlestone’s passing ability makes him the ideal candidate to play in the holding role in England’s new midfield diamond formation.
Jack Wilshere has been filling in that position in the last couple of matches, with Hoddle and Arsenal legend Ray Parlour amongst those who feel the 22-year-old is better further up the pitch.
Hoddle said: “I’d say Tom Huddlestone should still be there. We shouldn’t have thrown him out the window.
“As a holding player, if they’re going to play one who can spray it about, he’s the best passer England have got now (Steven) Gerrard’s gone, in my opinion. Both long and short.”
Huddlestone has won four caps for England, the last of which came in a 4-2 defeat to Sweden in a friendly back in November 2012.
