Ex-Leeds United manager Brian McDermott is set to join Arsenal as a scout for the remainder of the season, Daily Mail reports.
McDermott was sacked by Leeds at the tail end of last season in May and although he has been linked with a managerial position with Bolton Wanderers, he is close to becoming a scout for the Gunners.
The position was initially offered to ex-Portsmouth scout Ian Bloomsfield, but the offer was snubbed for a role at rivals Tottenham Hotspur, which opened a vacancy set to be filled by McDermott.
Arsenal chief scout Steve Rowley will be in charge of McDermott’s duties for the scouting team, and will play a major part in the club’s transfers over the upcoming January window.
The 53-year-old is a former Arsenal player, joining the club in 1979 and making 61 appearances until his departure to Oxford United in 1984.
