Former Liverpool striker scores brace on West Brom debut

Rickie Lambert has wasted little time in endearing himself to the West Brom faithful, as the former Liverpool striker scored a brace on his debut for this new club, as per The Mirror.

The England international agreed a deal to leave Anfield this summer after falling down Brendan Rodgers’ pecking order and will feature in the Baggies attack in the 2015-16 campaign.

The former Southampton man was selected for West Brom’s 4-0 win over Bristol Rovers on Friday, only hours after agreeing a deal to move to The Hawthorns.

Lambert showed little signs of rustiness, netting twice in the rout against a team that he played for earlier in his career.

The targetman will be keen to get back to his best after a season of frustration on Merseyside, where he was largely a back-up option for the Reds.

Liverpool’s signing of Christian Benteke, Roberto Firmino and Danny Ings this summer meant that Lambert became surplus to requirements.
