West Ham United have decided to terminate the contract of midfielder Ravel Morrison, two-and-a-half years after the England Under 21 international joined from Manchester United.
Morrison, who has signed a pre-contract agreement with Serie A outfit Lazio, has had various loan spells during his time at Upton Park with then-Championship Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City taking the now-22-year-old on for brief stints.
The former Manchester United midfielder was dubbed the best kid that former Red Devils gaffer Sir Alex Ferguson had ever seen at Old Trafford, however, other than a few fleeting moments for Sam Allardyce’s side – most notably his wonderful solo effort against Tottenham Hotspur in a 3-0 win for the Hammers last season – Morrison was troubled with off-the-field problems.
During the 2014 Janaury transfer window, it was revealed that West Ham rejected a £4million bid from then-Premier League rivals Fulham.
Morrison made 17 Premier League appearances for West Ham, with 12 of those being starts.
