Former Manchester United player Ray Wilkins believes manager Louis van Gaal could get sacked following his recent media outburst, Express reports.
He has been under constant pressure over the past few weeks after being unable to pick up a single win from his previous six matches in all competitions.
In addition to that, Van Gaal also saw his side get knocked out of the Champions League following a 3-2 defeat to Wolfsburg earlier this month.
The Dutchman walked out of his latest press conference after answering only three questions, voicing his annoyance at reporters asking him about speculation that he was facing the sack.
Wilkins has now revealed that the current United boss could be forced out in similar circumstances to that of former manager David Moyes.
“It’s not good enough for Man United just to be in the top four or even at the top of the league, they have to perform how the fans want them to perform – with a bit of a cavalier style,” he said.
“I could see a change – I didn’t think there would be a change with David Moyes, to be honest. I thought they’d give him more time, so the same would apply to Van Gaal.”
The Red Devils have lost two consecutive Premier League games against newly promoted sides Bournemouth and Norwich City as they now find themselves fifth on the league table.
