Former Premier League star turns down Chelsea move

Chelsea tried to sign Argentine forward Carlos Tevez, but he rejected the move.

Tevez told Argentine radio station Radio La Red that he spoke to Blues boss Antonio Conte, but chose to stay with current cluB Boca Juniors:

“The day after we lost Conte called me and asked if I wanted to come to Chelsea. I told him no.”

The 32-year-old has just finished his second campaign in the Argentina Primera Division, since leaving Juventus back in 2015, after helping them reach the UEFA Champions League final.

The former West Ham United, Manchester United and Manchester City forward has over 200 Premier League appearances and 84 goals to his name, winning 3 League titles and the UEFA Champions League. He also has 2 Serie A winners medals.

Tevez confirmed that both Chelsea and Napoli contacted him over a transfer this summer, but reiterated his desire to finish his career at Boca, who he first made his debut for aged 16.

The Blues have been heavily linked with forwards this summer, despite already wrapping up the transfer of Michy Batshuayi.

Chelsea face West Ham in their league opener on August 15th.
