AC Milan goalkeeper Diego Lopez, who was Reall Madrid’s number one last season, has claimed that new team-mate Fernando Torres is better than the now Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli, Express reports.
The Reds were in the summer transfer market for a striker after the £75 million sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, and a week before deadline day sealed a £16million move for Serie A ace Mario Balotelli.
Lopez himself also just moved to the San Siro after being deemed surplus to requirements by Los Blanco coach Carlo Ancelotti along with the purchase of Cost Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas to be Iker Casillas’ backup.
However the Spaniard believes Milan will benefit more from Torres than if they Italian decided to keep Balotelli on their roster.
Speaking to Milan Channel, the 32-year-old claimed: “Torres is a great signing. We’re talking about a player who has done amazing things, who has experience, speed, and will be important.
“Balotelli? Torres will be more useful as he has shown the characteristics needed to win.”
Lopez was Real’s goalkeeper in league match last season, while Casillas got the nod when Los Blancos played in cup games.
