Sunderland are keeping a close eye on former West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce as they continue their search for a new manager, according to reports from the Express.
Dick Advocaat recently left the club following a 2-2 draw with West Ham United where his side lost a two goal lead to end the match with only a point.
He admitted that he was not up to the task and was not ready to head into the relegation battle as he decided that his time in charge was up.
“The struggle against relegation is not my cup of tea,” he said.
“It was time for someone else to take over. I became negative and that didn’t feel like myself.”
The Black Cats are now believed to be keen on bringing Allardyce to the Stadium of Light as he is currently without a job since his departure from West Ham at the end of the previous campaign.
Despite the English manager previously revealing that he was not keen on the job, the club are still looking to persuade him to change his mind.
