Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has insisted that star striker Edinson Cavani, who is a target for Manchester United and Arsenal, is not for sale, Mirror reports.
Cavani has been heavily linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes in recent transfer windows, with the attacker reportedly unhappy playing out of position due to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s grip on the lone striker role.
But it seems that club president Al-Khelaifi isn’t willing to allow the Uruguayan to leave this summer, as he sees Cavani having a bright future with the Ligue-1 champions.
“He is young and the future of the club,” he said.
“He needs more confidence but his last match (where he scored twice against Lille) proved his talent. He will be Parisien next season.”
He then went on to add that he is a big fan of Juventus star Paul Pogba, hinting that he may sign him ahead of the new season.
“He is French, Parisien even,” he said. “But all the top clubs want him.”
PSG were in contention to sign Angel di Maria ahead of Manchester United last summer, but Al-Khelaifi confirmed that they couldn’t because of Financial Fair Play regulations.
“FFP has handicapped us and clearly slowed us down,” he said.
“Without these rules, you can imagine that Di Maria would be at PSG this season. UEFA has to change the rules – I have confident that they will.”
Despite being deployed on the wing to accommodate Ibrahimovic, Cavani has still scored 24 goals in 47 appearances for PSG this season.
