Tottenham defender Kyle Walker has emerged as a surprise transfer target for Ligue 1 giants Monaco, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The French club have reportedly switched their attention across north London, having previously made Arsenal right back Bacary Sagna a top target.
Sources in France claim 23-year-old Walker has emerged as a top target for the Ligue 1 side who are looking to sign a new full back in January.
Walker only signed a new deal at White Hart Lane in October, which is set to see him stay at the club until 2019.
Although it seems highly unlikely he will be sold, Monaco are ready to test the uncertainty surrounding the north London club following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas on Monday.
The club have money to spend, and hope to tempt the England defender with a lucrative contract offer.
Meanwhile, Tottenham hope Jan Vertonghen will make a speedy recovery from an ankle injury.
The Belgian defender was present at White Hart Lane for Sunday’s 5-0 hammering against Liverpool, and was seen in a protective boot with crutches.
Vertonghen is unlikely to play over the Christmas and New Year period, and will look to return to action in roughly four weeks.
That would rule the defender out of back-to-back games with Manchester United in the Premier League and Arsenal in the FA Cup.
