French giants to pip Arsenal in transfer race

Yohan Cabaye

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is set to miss out on another summer transfer target as Paris St Germain agree a deal with Newcastle for Yohan Cabaye, according to the Metro.

The French champions insisted that their business was done for the transfer window but after seeing the Gunners lodge a failed £10million bid earlier in the week, boss Laurent Blanc has made his move for his compatriot.

Cabaye would prefer a move back to France and with it being a World Cup year, the 27 year old is keen to impress on his home soil to make the squad for Brazil next summer.

This is just another blow for Wenger who has missed out on numerous players this summer and has failed to improve the Arsenal squad ahead of another gruelling campaign.

A thumping win away at Fulham yesterday is set to once again paper over the crack at the Emirates and PSG’s £17million bid will not be matched by Wenger who is back to square one, again.
