Chelsea have been halted in their efforts to send Radamel Falcao back to Monaco during the January window following his huge decline in form, Daily Mail reports.
The 29-year-old completed a season-long loan move from the Ligue 1 outfits during the summer, with the two teams sharing his £265,000-a-week wages.
Manager Jose Mourinho is now believed to be considering a move to reinforce his side with another forward, but will be unable to offload Falcao until at least the summer.
Monaco have refused to allow the Colombia international to return to the club given that they are unwilling to pay his wages in full.
The only team that could consider a move for the striker are Valencia, a club that shares a close relationship with his agent Jorge Mendes.
He failed to impress on loan at Manchester United last season and is likely to be forced out of Stamford Bridge after only managing to score one goal from his previous nine Premier League appearances this term.
