Alongside new boy Scott Parker, Sidwell has hit form already this season and Fulham are hoping to tie the 30 year old down with his current deal expiring next summer.
There would be a queue around the block of clubs wanting to take the former Aston Villa man on a free transfer at the end of the season and so Fulham boss Martin Jol is keen to get a contract signed before the new year.
Jol knows that the ‘ginger Pele’ wants to stay in West London and so it shouldn’t take much negotiating in order to guarantee the midfielders future.
Sidwell could seal a new two year deal that could keep him at Craven Cottage for the remainder of his career.
“He’s done well,” Jol told the Fulham Chronicle.
“We’re talking to him to extend his contract.
“I think he wants to stay.”
