Fulham have beaten off interest from Italian giants Juventus and Fiortentina to secure the signing of Dimitar Berbatov for an undisclosed fee from Manchester United.
Berbatov will link up with his former manager Martin Jol at Craven Cottage after a transfer saga that seemed to be ebbing and flowing. After undergoing a medical yesterday, the deal took almost 24 hours to be confirmed by the club but the Bulgarian is clearly delighted with the move.
“I’m delighted to have signed for Fulham and I look forward to playing under Martin Jol once again. As soon as I was aware of Fulham’s interest my decision to join was an easy one to make. I’m impressed with the set up here and the people have made me feel welcome. There is a close and personal feel around the Club and I can’t wait to get started.” Berbatov told Fulham’s official website.
Berbatov was expected to join Fiorentina yesterday but failed to turn up to the clubs training ground to discuss personal terms amidst reports that Juventus had lured him to Turin. However it turns out Berbatov was happy to stay in England and is a fantastic signing for the West London club.
