Gabby Agbonlahor wants season to end

Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has admitted that he is eager for the season to end so his side can rebuild and come back stronger next term.

The Midlands club have had a mediocre campaign under Alex McLeish, and after their 0-0 draw with Wigan at the weekend sit in 15th place in the Premier League.

The sprightly attacker admits that it has been a campaign to forget, and thanked the fans for sticking by the team.

“It’s one of those seasons you want to get out of the way and get through it,” he told The Sun.

“Then you rebuild. We know it’s going to be difficult but we’re battling away as a team.

“The fans are sticking with us with the way they turned out in numbers.

“We can’t hear things on the pitch. We’re just concentrating on the game so that doesn’t affect us,” he concluded.

Villa are on 29 points currently, eight above the relegation places, and take on Blackburn at Ewood Park on Saturday.
