Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has been ruled out for around two weeks after being forced to undergo surgery on a nagging groin injury.
The 23-year-old was forced to pull out of training on Friday morning due to the problem and will go under the knife on Monday, ruling him out of England’s Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro a week on Tuesday.
New Villa boss Gerard Houllier told reporters:“Gabby will have a minor operation on Monday evening on his groin. He had to leave training this morning because it was too painful.
“I think the England squad is named on Monday and that has definitely ruled him out. He wouldn’t be able to play.
“It is not just a niggle, it is real pain and hopefully the operation will heal that.”
