Former West Ham United defender Tony Gale has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is worth more money than Paris Saint-Germain attacker Neymar.
French giants PSG paid Barcelona just shy of £200m to sign Neymar during the summer, with the Brazilian becoming the most expensive footballer in the world.
According to Gale, however, Kane would be worth more on the current market than Neymar, and the 57-year-old has also said that Tottenham would be ‘mad’ to sell their star player, even if European champions Real Madrid are prepared to splash the cash.
Gale told Sky Sports:
“They’d be mad to sell him, you’ve got to build everything around him and give him what Real Madrid would pay him. I think he’s worth more than Neymar. Harry’s got goals in him and goals are the thing.”
It was revealed on Wednesday that Kane would captain England in their 2018 World Cup qualifier against Slovenia at Wembley on Tuesday night.
The 24-year-old has scored 11 times in just nine appearances for Tottenham in all competitions this season, including five goals in two Champions League matches.
As well as Real Madrid, Manchester United are said to have a long-standing interest in Kane, who has developed into one of the top strikers in world football.
