England coach and football pundit Gary Neville has raved over Dele Alli, stating that the young Tottenham midfielder has a massively bright future ahead of him.
The 19-year-old moved to White Hart Lane in the summer from League One outfit MK Dons and has settled into Mauricio Pochettino’s squad with aplomb.
Such was Alli’s impressive start in the Premier League that the teenager has recently been given the chance to play for England also.
Alli put in a masterclass in a recent friendly victory over France, with Neville stating that he has been massively impressed with the young midfielder so far.
“There was a sense of pride watching someone perform like that, in his first game, against the likes of Matuidi, Schneiderlin and Pogba,” Neville wrote in The Telegraph.
“You are thinking – what a performance that was by a young player. This lad was playing League One football recently. Now he can handle himself against one of the best midfields in Europe.
“He can run, pass, tackle, head. And he’s tough. That performance against France was a highlight of my time with England. I gave him man of the match for Spurs against Arsenal for a magnificent performance.”
Alli is suspended for Spurs’ Sunday clash with Chelsea after picking up his fifth booking of the campaign last time out against West Ham.
The 19-year-old has become a mainstay in Pochettino’s side this season and is likely to be replaced by Ryan Mason against the Blues.
