Aston Villa have issued a statement that insists the dispute between manager Gerard Houllier and striker John Carew is over.
The two men became involved in a war of words over the weekend when the Norwegian forward accused Houllier of being disrespectful.
The Frenchman had earlier challenged Carew to prove he deserved a new contract.
Houllier responded after the 1-1 draw at Fulham by saying Carew was "stupid" and urged him to stop "living in the past."
Carew is sidelined for a month with a torn calf muscle and is out of contract at the end of this season.
The 31-year-old moved to Villa in January 2007 in a swap deal with Milan Baros and has gone on to score 48 goals in 128 appearances for the club.
