Chief executive David Gill has hinted that Manchester United could be busy when the summer transfer window opens for business.
The Red Devils have come under fire in recent days following three successive defeats at a pivotal moment in the season.
The depth of Sir Alex Ferguson's squad has been criticised following United's limp display in a 2-1 Premier League title showdown defeat to Chelsea last weekend before their exit from the Champions League at the quarter-final stage to Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
Ferguson resisted the temptation to reinvest the £80million the club raised from the world record sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid last summer.
However, Gill has hinted that the next off-season could be a busy one at Old Trafford.
United have already agreed deals to sign promising Fulham defender Chris Smalling and Mexico striker Javier Hernandez.
"We are planning for next season," Gill told MUTV."We have already bought Chris Smalling from Fulham and we are very excited about him joining us in July.
"Let's see what happens. Watch this space."
