Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed that out of favour goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes is unhappy at losing his place in the Spurs first-team, and may leave the club in January.

The White Hart Lane outfit signed veteran stopper Brad Friedel on a free transfer from Aston Villa over the summer, who has claimed the number one jersey as his own, and may force the Brazilian to look for new employers.

“[Goalkeeping coach] Tony Parks felt that if I had to bring somebody off the bench, maybe Carlo (Cudicini) would be a better bet,” Redknapp told The Telegraph.

“He just felt Gomes was a bit low about not playing. I’ve not made him No 3, that’s for sure, but he’s not happy. In January he’s maybe looking to move on," the coach concluded.

Gomes moved to North London from PSV Eindhoven back in 2008, and has had an eventful time in England over the last three years.

A number of high profile blunders, especially at the tail-end of last season, have jeopardised the South American's future at the Premier League side, and forced Redknapp to strengthen between the sticks.
