Granit Xhaka is set to miss Arsenal's visit of Manchester United this weekend with a swollen ankle injury, reports the Independent.

What's the word?

Xhaka, who's largely been a mainstay in the Gunners' midfield since joining the club last summer, picked up a knock during last week's loss at White Hart Lane.

He's made 23 starts for Arsenal and had been a major part of Arsene Wenger's recent switch to a 3-4-3 formation, though hasn't recovered in time for Sunday's game.

His absence will be a notable one, with the Swiss international establishing himself as a first choice ahead of Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny of late.

Elsewhere, Lucas Perez continues to miss out despite his return to full training.

Any good news?

Fortunately for Arsenal, Shkodran Mustafi should be fit for the game at the Emirates Stadium. It's a huge game for the Gunners as they attempt to keep their top four dreams alive, with United going through somewhat of an injury crisis themselves.
