Incoming Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has made Schalke star Leroy Sane a priority transfer target this summer, according to reports from the Daily Star.
Sane has been heavily linked with a move away from the Veltins Arena for much of the January transfer window, with a host of big name sides being aligned with the 20-year-old.
However, the Schalke’s high £40m valuation made clubs reluctant to sign Sane last month, with the youngster making his Germany debut back in November.
But Guardiola, who is in charge of Bayern Munich, has seen Sane first hand in the German top flight, and is a big fan of the attacking midfielder.
He said: “Leroy is a huge talent and I can only congratulate Germany on having a talent like him.”
Guardiola will take charge of City at the end of the season, with the Etihad club already officially announcing the capture of the former Barcelona manager.
Sane has made 26 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring six goals and supplying five assists.
