Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has ended any speculation surrounding the future of star striker Sergio Aguero by stating that the forward will remain at the club.

The Spanish manager, who was speaking ahead of a pre-season derby with Manchester United in the United States, was pressed on the future of the former Atletico Madrid man, who had been surprisingly linked with a move to Premier League champions Chelsea in the last week.

When asked by the Press Association what he made of the talk, the former Barcelona manager ended any talk of a move with a swift response.

"You know my opinion about Sergio," said Guardiola.

"He is our player and he will remain here."

Since making the move to The Etihad the Argentine has scored a stagger 169 goals in 253 games, winning two Premier League titles. However, despite his un-paralleled goalscoring, there was doubt over his place in Guardiola's plans last season, particularly after the arrival of Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus in January.
