Chairman Peter Hill-Wood has confirmed Arsenal's interest in signing Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer.
Schwarzer, 37, has been linked with the Gunners despite his advancing years, but Hill-Wood has revealed that no agreement with their London rivals is imminent after an opening bid in the region of £3million was turned down.
"We have made an enquiry for him and they are not prepared to sell him so we have gone away," he told the Daily Star.
"We can only hope they will change their minds, but at the moment it doesn't look like it."
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has made the acquisition of a new goalkeeper his main summer priority.
Regular number one Manuel Almunia plus back-up Lukasz Fabianski were both criticised for making costly mistakes last season.
