Arsenal target Gonzalo Higuain is the subject of a €94million bid, just shy of £80million, from Juventus.
That’s according to Gazetta dello Sport, who claim the Serie A champions are keen to add their rival’s star striker to the Old Lady’s ranks. The Italian side have lost Alvaro Morata this summer and have identified Higuain as his replacement.
Arsenal had made a player-plus-cash offer to Napoli, offering Olivier Giroud as part of the deal according to the Metro. But Napoli declined the offer, as well as turning down a similar move from Juve.
Napoli also received a played-plus-cash bid from Juventus, which included €75million and Roberto Pereyra in exchange for Higuain. Their new offer is €94million, with Pereyra set to move to Naples in an unrelated deal.
Arsene Wenger has already missed out on Jamie Vardy, who was close to moving to the Emirates before extending his stay at Premier League champions.
It could mean the French manager will have to go back to the drawing board with the club unlikely to rival such a bid themselves.
