West Ham United would be interested in bringing David Beckham back to the Premier League, according to co-owner David Gold.

Gold believes the 34-year-old former England captain would be a quality signing for the Hammers despite his advancing years.

The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder has seen his World Cup dream ended by a ruptured Achilles tendon picked up while on loan at AC Milan.

Doubts have been expressed over the 34-year-old former Manchester United star's ability to return to top-level action.

However, Gold has admitted his club would be interested in luring the east London-born midfielder back to England should there also be a desire on his behalf.

"David keeps on showing he still has so much to offer and if he's available then we want to be bidding," Gold told the News of the World.

"It's not only a case of what he can do on the pitch but what he does off it. He'd be a sensational ambassador for his home-town club.

"He's a local boy like the two owners and this could appeal to him.

"It's not fanciful as he has so much to offer. His arrival would be massive."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
