Hammers hope to maintan striker’s services despite North-East interest

The London Evening Standard has reported that despite a supposed mass exodus from West Ham following relegation back to the Championship, Demba Ba won’t be one of the players the Hammers cash in on.

Demba Ba is apparently wanted by Sunderland and Newcastle United, with clubs lacking numbers at the top of the pitch, Sunderland have lost Fraizer Campbell for twelve months and Newcastle are still looking to replace the departed Andy Carroll. AC Milan has also been rumoured to be interested in the Senegalese forward.

Ba only joined West Ham in January in a £6 million deal from German club, Hoffenheim and has been revelation, netting seven times since his arrival.

Despite the Hammers desire to keep hold of their big striker, should a reasonable offer come in for Ba, they will find it hard to reject as the impact of the Championship on finances sets in.
