Udinese technical manager Andrea Carnevale has this morning announced that 27 year old goalkeeper Samir Handanovic is not for sale, following speculation from Arsenal and Spurs, reports Talk Sport.

Spurs are looking for a long term replacement for 41 year old Brad Friedel, whereas North London rivals Arsenal are looking for competition for their number 1 shirt for Wojciech Szczesny.

The Slovenian international has gained a reputation as one of the continents best ‘keepers, and is well known for his penalty saving ability, saving six of them in the season before last.

Carnevale also was asked about the future of Handanovic as well as his teammate 21 year old striker Luis Muriel, and replied; ‘Neither of them will leave – the goalkeeper is still with us.’

Friedel has a year left on his contract at White Hart Lane, and as he turns 42 next year, it is expected for the America to retire, leaving Spurs in the hunt for a ‘keeper; and Handanovic was believed to be their first target.

Whilst the Slovenian would’ve had to choose between either North London club, his manager’s explicit denial that he will be leaving Stadio Friuli leaves him concentrating on matters with his current club Udinese.
