Josh Harrop has branded his Manchester United debut ‘a dream come true’, with the 21-year-old netting on his first senior appearance for the Red Devils at the weekend.
Harrop was one of four Man United players that were handed their Premier League debuts by head coach Jose Mourinho, whose focus was firmly on Wednesday’s Europa League final against Ajax in Stockholm.
Harrop scored his team’s first in their 2-0 victory over the Eagles, and the winger has admitted that he was left “speechless” after netting on his first senior appearance.
He told MUTV:
“I’ve dreamed about it so many times so, for it to come true today, I’m delighted. Over the moon!
“All my family were here, my friends – I’m delighted they could share the moment with me. I’ve trained since I was eight for this moment so, for it to come true today in front of everyone, I’m over the moon, speechless.”
Joel Pereira, Demetri Mitchell and Angel Gomes also made their Premier League debuts for Man United at the weekend, whilst there was a full debut for midfielder Scott McTominay, who has been involved with the senior team in recent weeks.
Harrop is believed to have earned himself a new contract after netting against Palace, with the Stockport-born midfielder said to have agreed a 12-month extension at Old Trafford.
Man United will now look to secure a return to the Champions League when they face Ajax in the final of the Europa League on Thursday night, but Harrop is unlikely to be involved despite his impressive showing at the weekend.
