Harry puts focus on league

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has admitted that a top-four Premier League finish is more important than a Carling Cup run for the north London club this season.

The 2008 winners and 2009 runners-up currently occupy a Champions League qualification spot in the league table after a strong start to the season.

But speaking ahead of Tuesday's quarter-final tie with Manchester United, Redknapp has admitted that his focus this year is more on the league.

Holders United won last year's final on penalty kicks at Wembley.

"Wembley is a great day out but I would love to get into a Champions League position with Spurs," said Redknapp.

"You can win a cup and have a bit of luck on the way but to get to a Champions League position would be done through a whole season. It would be great for us.

"If you win it (the Carling Cup) and everybody enjoys it, but Tottenham won it two years ago and then went into freefall. So it didn't do them any good."
